It has been an arduous task, but our Metztli Reiser4, Software Format Release Number (SFRN) 4.0.2, -enabled Debian Installer (d-i) now will install Debian 13, aka, Trixie, on reiser4 -formatted storage media. As a proof-of-concept (PoC), I created the following video where our tlilxochitl, i.e., 'vanilla', Metztli Reiser4 netboot d-i for Intel CPUs will install on a VirtualBox 7.1.10 virtual slice. Of course, there is the Z netboot d-i version for Epyc/Ryzen AMD CPUs, as well.
As shown, if selecting expert from the initial d-i menu, the user will have the option to format his/her storage media in the reiser4 file system either with Zstd transparent compression or without it -- which is the default for novice users. I have formatted a couple of virtual partitions with Zstd transparent compression by typing 'Y' at the prompt during formatting operations; and I have cleared the relevant field from the sticky 'Y' to format the larger virtual partition without Zstd transparent compression. Please note, if using the default reiser4 file system in Metztli Reiser4 d-i, please do not try to use LVM, as well.
(Please, use media controls -- to enlarge the video, for instance -- and/or right-select/click on the video, once it has begun playing, to open in another tab in larger dimensions.)
Tlilxochitl, i.e., 'vanilla', for Intel CPUs: metztli-reiser4.iso : metztli-reiser4.iso.SHA256SUM
For AMD Epyc/Ryzen CPUs: metztli-reiser4-z.iso : metztli-reiser4-z.iso.SHA256SUM
